The European pigs-mature-for-slaughter market is friendly again, and quotations continue to rise. Price increases range from 1 cent in France to 8 cents in Denmark. The supply of pigs ready for slaughter is limited in the EU due to the reduction in livestock numbers. It is meeting with an increase in demand ahead of Easter. In preparation for the holidays, the demand for raw materials is increasing in the industry, and the slaughter companies are showing a lively interest in buying. Passing on the rising prices in sales remains challenging and market participants are hoping for support in this regard from the Easter business. In addition, demand for pork from Asia is improving.
