The Interessengemeinschaft der Schweinehalter Nord-Westdeutschland e.V. (ISN), Germany's most important interest group in the pig industry with its almost 12,000 members, recently established the
Young ISNworking team. This team is planned to become a meeting point for young professional entrepreneurs from the pig farming branch. A few weeks only after having been founded, the working team has more than 70 members already. It is the
Young ISN'sintention to set new trends in the safeguarding of the pig farmers' interests and to expand the team's function as a forum for communication and discussions among the young pig farmers. They aim at strengthening the entrepreneurial spirit, at supporting the entrepreneurial and communicative abilities through further education, at improving the exchange of experiences and the international cooperation as well as at intensifying all contacts with practitioners, sciences and politics.
On the occasion of an agri-political study trip to Berlin, Ansgar Lünnemann, Markus Kornmann, Jörg Schepers and Dirk Schulze Tenkhoff were elected into the Young ISN's organisation team. Their future area of responsibility will be: to prepare seminars, study trips and other events, to represent the Young ISN at various occasions. Everyone in the organisation team has got his own ideas of the fields he will put emphasis on:
Ansgar Lünnemann, 23 years of age, farmer from Alfhausen (Lower Saxony):
Plans for the future - agricultural policy
It seems particularly important to me that we will be able to actively help fashioning our future as pig farmers in Germany. Within the Young ISN team we will be given the possibility to achieve this goal together and to stand up for the young pig farmers' interests in particular.
Markus Kornmann, 22 years of age, student of agricultural science, from Möttingen (Bavaria):
Get in touch ...
As a member of the ISN, I am given the opportunity to get and stay in touch with colleagues from the branch on a national level. This is important for the young people in particular who want to be flexible and `up to date`.
Jörg Schepers, 22 years of age, farmer from Gronau-Epe (North-Rhine Westphalia):
Specialised work
Working together closely with the ISN allows us to offer an interesting specialised programme for the Young ISN members. It is especially interesting in this respect that we can arrange the programme independently and according to the members' wishes.
Dirk Schulze Tenkhoff, 22 years of age, student of agricultural science, from Beckum (North-Rhine Westphalia):
Market- and price policy
It remains always important to keep oneself informed about the current market development and about the courses set in politics. For this purpose, working together with the ISN is of particular interest, just as is the exchange of experiences among the Young ISN members - especially if you look at the decision-making at your own farm.
If you are interested in becoming a Young ISN member, please do not hesitate to get in touch with Mrs Monika Kleickmann at the ISN offices (phone: +49-5491-9665-11 / e-mail: kleickmann@schweine.net).
