In many European countries, the ongoing winter weather makes transport of pigs mature for slaughter much more difficult. Furthermore, the farmers leave their pigs in the stables for a longer time period with the weather still being chilly. Thus, unchanged pigs-mature-for-slaughter-market quotations are reported on from almost all over Europe this week.

The quotation in Great Britain alone went up by a corrected 4 cents. For the sixth time in a row, the German, Belgian and Austrian quotations remained on an unchanged level. In Spain and Denmark, the price could be maintained on a steady level for the fourth time in a row. The Swedish quotation remained unchanged, yet as a result of exchange rate changes it went up by one corrected cent.

Trend: The quantities of pigs mature for slaughter on offer continue to be sold easily on the market. However, pressure is exerted on the high-quality parts’ prices by purchasers in food retailing. This week, the quantities of live pigs on offer are expected to be slightly below last week’s figures. So, the price level is estimated to remain unchanged.
