EU Pig Prices: Moving Sidewards

2010-04-20Eng

This week, the European pigs-mature-for-slaughter market is again characterised by a sideward movement of prices. All countries’ quotations remained unchanged. In Great Britain, the price decrease by one corrected cent is attributed by exchange rate changes of the pound sterling against the euro.

For the seventh time in a row, the Dutch and German prices remained on an unchanged level. In Ireland, the prices remained on a steady level for the tenth time in succession; Belgium and Denmark report their prices to be unchanged for the second time in a row. Everyone in Europe everywhere waits for the market to get stimulated.

Trend: With the quantities of pigs for slaughter on offer still being extensive, the slaughter companies’ demand is easily satisfied. This week, the market situation is expected to be friendly; the nice and sunny spring weather could lead to the barbecue season being started and thus contribute to stimulation of the pigs-for-slaughter market.
