The European pigs-mature-for-slaughter is characterised by a positive trend this week. The increase in quotations ranges from 2 cents (Germany) to 4 cents (Great Britain). In France, the price remained on an unchanged level.
As to the Dutch price increase, better sales revenue is reported to be the reason. Furthermore, supply is described to be rather scarce at some Dutch slaughterhouses while others were able to adapt supply to demand. They say that the Danish export business has once again improved with regard to third countries in particular; thus, the price went up again in Denmark. In Spain there are only scarce quantities of pigs for slaughter on offer, so the quotation was reported to have increased by as much as three cents.
Trend: The trend is expected to continue to go up as a result of brisk demand for pork and slightly low supply of pigs for slaughter. With Pentecost ahead and with temperatures expected to rise, ever more people are expected to barbecue, so the prospects are anticipated to keep bright.
