The European pigs-mature-for-slaughter market appears to be fairly inconsistent this week. The quotations in Germany, the Netherlands, France, Belgium and Austria went down by 3 to 6 cents. Contrary to them, the quotations in Spain and Great Britain produced a price rise. The Danish and Swedish prices respectively remained on an unchanged level. Yet, the corrected versions of the quotations in Great Britain and Sweden just disappeared in the exchange rate changes.

Both the Netherlands and Germany state that the price decrease had been caused by the worsening prices for pork. In addition to that, extensive quantities of pigs for slaughter are on offer. Exports of live pigs from the Netherlands towards Poland and Hungary are reported to have slightly increased. The French slaughter companies named the domestic food retailing to be the reason for the lowering of quotations through their not being ready to pay the required pork prices. In Spain, however, the quotations were pushed again. This way, the Spanish quotation once again proves to be holding the leading position.

Trend: After the prices fell clearly in parts, the pigs-mature-for-slaughter prices are expected to remain unchanged this week.
