After last week’s price increases, the prices now seem to stabilise on a high level. France alone announced a price change, with the exchange going up by another 5 cents. Such price level has not been achieved at this time of the year in France for 10 years. So, after this price increase France is ranking second behind Italy in the European ranking list.
It is reported that the slaughter companies passed on the pig price increase mainly in meat sales. Further price increases are, most probably, only tediously enforceable both in the domestic business and in exports.
Trend for the German market: At present, the market participants report about a well-balanced situation of supply and demand. Provided that the quantities on offer of pigs mature for slaughter are not strongly increased, the prices may be expected to continue to be steady.
